Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy and explain here what Twilight Tales stores, why it is stored, and how families can review or remove saved information.

1. Who this applies to

This service is intended for parents or legal guardians. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children.

2. What data we collect

We may collect:

  • Parent name
  • Parent email address
  • A parent account password, stored in hashed form rather than plain text
  • Child profile details such as first name, age, and profile colour
  • Story-world names you choose to add, such as a friend or pet
  • Child's age
  • Preferences such as likes, dislikes, challenges, and values
  • Generated story content, parent notes, next-story notes, and reviews you choose to save
  • Optional voice-clone sample audio and cloned-voice identifiers if you choose to use the trial feature
  • Limited support or security information, such as support emails or technical error reports

We do not ask for sensitive categories of child data, and we ask parents or guardians to avoid submitting medical or other highly sensitive personal information through the story forms.

3. Why we collect data

We use your data to:

  • Create and secure your parent account
  • Save and reopen journeys for one or more child profiles
  • Generate personalised stories
  • Save your notes, reviews, and later chapter progress
  • Create and play back trial cloned voices when you actively choose to use that feature
  • Improve your experience and respond to support requests
  • Monitor and fix service errors

4. How your data is stored

Your data may be stored securely using trusted third-party services that help us operate Twilight Tales, such as Airtable, Vercel, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Microsoft 365, and Sentry.

Some trial cloned-voice settings are also stored in your local browser on the device where you create them, so the feature can play back using that saved voice mapping.

Some story drafts, translated story copies, bedtime trial profiles, and reflection notes may also be stored locally in your browser for a limited period so the experience can reopen on the same device without asking you to start again.

We take reasonable steps to protect your information.

5. Legal basis (GDPR)

We process your data based on:

  • Your consent when you submit information
  • Legitimate interest in providing and improving the service

6. Data retention

We keep your data only as long as needed to provide the service, handle support requests, protect the service, or meet legal obligations.

  • Active parent-account, child-profile, and saved journey records are kept while the account is active and needed to provide the service.
  • Inactive journey records may be deleted after around 24 months unless a longer period is needed for a live support, security, or account issue.
  • When a signed-in parent uses Delete Account & Data, the automated deletion route removes matching live Airtable account and journey records immediately, then clears the parent session.
  • If the device sends cloned-voice IDs with the deletion request, Twilight Tales asks ElevenLabs to delete those cloned voices immediately and clears the local browser mapping on that device.
  • If Sentry error monitoring is active, Twilight Tales searches for Sentry issue logs containing the account email and removes matching issues through the configured Sentry management API. We do not intentionally send child profile or story content to Sentry.
  • Support messages, deletion confirmation emails, and limited security records may be kept for up to 24 months so we can handle follow-up questions, audit deletion requests, and protect the service.
  • Provider backup, security, and infrastructure logs may remain for the provider's own limited retention window after live deletion, but they are not used to rebuild the deleted account.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Request access to your data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Correct inaccurate information

Signed-in parents can use Delete Account & Data from the parent dashboard to start automated deletion. The process deletes matching live Airtable account and journey records, removes cloned-voice IDs supplied from the device, removes matching Sentry issue logs where identifiable, clears the active parent session, and sends a confirmation email when delivery is available.

You can also use the dedicated Delete My Data page for the manual deletion-request route if you cannot access the parent dashboard.

8. Sharing data

We do not sell your data.

We may use trusted third-party tools strictly to operate the service, including secure hosting, structured storage, AI generation, voice synthesis, support inbox handling, and error monitoring.

9. Children’s data

We collect limited child-related information only as provided by a parent or guardian, and only for story generation purposes.

Parents or guardians are the users of this service. Twilight Tales is not designed for direct child account use, does not use child behavioural profiling, and does not serve ads targeted at children.

10. Updates to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page.
